While many studios focus on a single dance routine for the majority of the school year, the teachers at Glen Dance teach technique and stage presence. Students at Glen Dance Studio learn how to dance not a single dance routine. Glen Dance Studio's facility offers extra benefits.
Glen Dance Studio relocated to 3 Park Plaza in Old Brooville this summer. The new space has lots of parking and plenty to do and eat in the area. This location hosts three beautiful dance rooms. Each studio has raised professional dance floors to prevent injuries and stress on the body. All rooms have an observation window or flat screen TV monitor. They allows parent to watch without disrupting the class. The new space allows Glen Dance to accommodate its growing population while keeping class sizes small and personal. Over the last decade the studio's repertoire of classes has grown.
The professional teachers at Glen Dance Studio teach the traditional arts such as Ballet, Tap, and Jazz as well as the trendy styles such as Latin and Hip-Hop. The studio also has specialized classes in Pointe, Lyrical, and Acrobatics. The beginner though advanced student can find something they will love in Glen Dance Studio’s small personalized classes (12-16 students). The studio runs classes 6 days a week to accommodate busy schedules. Multiple dance rooms allows for back to back classes and for siblings to take class at the same time. Moms and Dads can get a great workout at Glen Dance Studio.
Glen Dance Studio now has a Certified Personal Trainer on staff to do AM and PM Cardio and Core Classes. These classes get real one-on -one training. Adult dance classes in Jazz, Tap, and Hip-Hop offer a FUN alternative to a gym workout. They have even added popular ZUMBA classes to the schedule. Every class is "like a party"! The pride of the studio is the Pre-School Dance Program.
This 3-4 year old program offers 45-minute classes geared towards pre-school students. The class is part ballet and part tap. The length of the class and the mix of dance styles are designed to hold the attention of young children. The primary goal of this program is to foster a love of movement. The creative component is very important. Scarves, ribbons, and other props facilitate the dancer's physical expression. Taking part in a dancing narrative helps children understand that dancing is an expression of feelings and actions. Although these students are young, the teachers at Glen Dance studio teach the children the correct terminology for the steps. These adorable dancers are featured in the special matinee recital. The matinee is shorter and held in the afternoon. Entertainment and security are hired to keep the children happy and safe backstage. Glen Dance Company provides an avenue for serious students to advance as performers.The 65 students in the Glen Dance Company dance at an exceptional level. These kids ranging in age from 7 – 21 have won numerous awards, trophies, titles, and prizes in many dance competitions. This year they excelled at the "That's Entertainment" Dance Competition. These talented students have performed twice at Disney World, Six Flags and twice at Madison Square Garden for Knick's games. This July 4th, they will appear at the Statue of Liberty! Several of these students were accepted to American Ballet Theatre and Joffrey Ballet Summer programs in New York City. Some dancers have gone on to dance in professional jobs and to become Dance Majors in college. Several students have attended the BOCES Cultural Arts Program for dance. The Glen Dance Company serves as role models for younger dancers by assisting the teachers.
