Pre-Combo Ages 3-4, 45 minute class, part ballet and part tap The primary goal of this class is to foster a love of dance and movement. Students do learn correct terminology and step for basic ballet and tap. The creative component is also quite large. For example, scarves and other props are used to facilitate the dancer's own physical expression. A dancing narrative helps children to understand that dancing is a form of expression and a means of communicating feelings and actions. Many activities are set up a as game or make believe to enable the children to learn and have fun. Classical and children's music is used. Ballet Intro through Level V A classical ballet class using all components of a traditional class including barre, stretches, adagio, placement, turns, leaps, allegro, and reverence. Students may also do creative movement exercises to learn to use dance as an expression of feelings and actions. We use ballet terminology, classical, and contemporary music. Pointe With permission only Ballet dancing on pointe shoes for advanced students only. Tap Level I-V This class uses percussive movements, rhythms and time steps. Dancers wear flat tap shoes. Styles may include Broadway tap and rhythm or street tap. Jazz Level I-V A traditional jazz class using isolations, stretches, turns, leaps, kicks, and jazz combinations. Styles range from Broadway to Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop Levels I-V This is a fun class to Hip-Hop music. Combinations are upbeat and funky. The focus is on style and attitude. This is the style seen in music videos. Modern This is an expressive dance class using modern technique. Example of modern dance includes Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham. Lyrical An expressive dance class created for competition. This style uses ballet steps as a base. We use contemporary music instead of classical. This class focuses on flexibility, leaps, and multiple turns. Acro This is a beginner to intermediate acrobatics class. The class uses cartwheels, rolls, aerials, walkovers, handsprings, splits, flexibility etc. along with dance steps. Latin A class using Latin music and traditional Latin dance steps from the Caribbean such as Merengue and Salsa in the combinations. (No partner needed.)
